SkyTrain advocates welcome commitments to SkyTrain to Newton

COMMITMENTS TO SKYTRAIN TO NEWTON REFLECT YEARS OF CALLS BY LOCAL RESIDENTS AND TRANSIT ADVOCATES.

SkyTrain advocates in Surrey welcome commitments by the new Surrey Mayor/Council, as well as the provincial NDP and Conservative parties. This is an important recognition of years of calls by local residents and transit advocates to further expand SkyTrain in what is slated to become the largest city in B.C.

Many other cities in Canada have now built at-grade LRT systems and have discovered the many problems and issues those systems have. Locking in SkyTrain for the King George Boulevard corridor promises a great transit experience for Surrey commuters. I am grateful for the support of local and provincial leaders for a project that will be absolutely transformational for our city.
