IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Feb. 26, 2016 – Surrey, BC
SkyTrain for Surrey founding director Daryl Dela Cruz has issued a response to recent claims of “misinformation” that were made by CKNW assistant news director Charmaine de Silva.
Daryl Dela Cruz, our founding director, said:
“When I offered the response “we are an advocacy group”, I meant that in the context that we are as bound to be misled by the info that is supplied to us as is anyone else who is following us on these issues. It should have been up to the City to clarify in the first place whether rapid transit to South Surrey was still supported.”
Our founding director noted that the primary accusation made by CKNW and the Surrey city representative – that our graphic map was cropped/edited to remove context – was invalid, as we had linked to the full City map below the image called into question. No misinformation was given.
He also noted that CKNW has failed to show up when we brought up previous LRT issues, whilst conveniently reporting on favourable matters brought forward by LRT supporters.
SkyTrain for Surrey encourages all observers to continue regarding the lack of clarity as to whether South Surrey will get rapid transit to be a major issue. In addition, we are raising new questions after City responses, including: if the City is supporting bus rapid transit to White Rock, why is the city only promoting the Light Rail part of its ultimate rapid transit vision for the city?
