SkyTrain/BRT supporters who want a say in the LRT consultations are urged to:

SkyTrain for Surrey is opposing the Surrey-Newton-Guildford LRT project as part of its overall campaign, urging that the LRT project instead be built as a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system at a lower cost.

Bus Rapid Transit in dedicated lanes would offer the same travel time benefits as LRT and could also run seamlessly to White Rock Centre and Coquitlam Centre, reaching more people and connecting more places.

Extending SkyTrain to Langley will create a high speed backbone to our transit system. A modern bus rapid transit system that connects to SkyTrain will reach and serve more people, faster and with greater efficiency than street-level light rail between Newton and Guildford.

About SkyTrain for Surrey

SkyTrain for Surrey is the community organization that advocated for the Surrey-Langley SkyTrain extension, and continues to push for high-quality rapid transit projects in Surrey and Langley. We began as a petition calling for the scrapping of a street-level LRT proposal, which eventually amassed more than 6,000 signatures, and later contributed to making SkyTrain an election issue as a registered third-party advertiser. SkyTrain for Surrey continues to call for high-quality projects that offer a positive return-on-investment and recognize the rapidly increasing demand for transit.
